That is called a House Centipede. At a former place of residence these creepy things were not uncommon to find.
At first my method of dealing with them was smashing them under shoe, then flushing the body of the bug down the toilet. Then I tried spraying the baseboards with OrthoMAX, and it worked excellently.
Only thing to worry about after that was removing dead bugs.
I found one in our house and it thoroughly freaked me the *bleep* out. Never seen one before, I guess they are good for pest control though. Bit still...all those legs...
